Jill Caporlingua
Jill Caporlingua has been a professional artist since she was three years old, when an entire stack of her paintings was sold at a neighbor's garage sale. Jill has worked in various mediums, including acrylics, oils and ink. She spent five years teaching drawing and painting at the Academy of Art located in Highland Park, New Jersey. She now gives private lessons. The inspiration for “Flower For Kiersten” came from a friend who is a continuing patient at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She is valiantly battling a childhood cancer and is now 22 years old. It's inspiring to see this young woman deal with her illness in such a graceful way and actually give give back to others. She often visits the younger children in the hospital to cheer them up and has started her own charity for childhood cancer research called “Kier's Kids”. I wanted to create a cheerful, optimistic painting in bright colors. It's traditional to bring flowers to someone in a hospital, so I liked the idea of a flower that will stay vibrant forever. Just like Keirsten's spirit. Jill can be contacted at www.gallerychaos.net.
