Janet M. Epstein – Columbia, MD
A resident of Columbia, MD, Janet Epstein is a life-long artist who studied at Bradley University in Peoria, IL as well as The Art Students League, The Studio at the Museum of Modern Art, and The New School, all in New York City. Six years ago, when her husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer and both her parents took ill, she realized she needed an outlet. She enrolled in her first painting class since college, becoming a student of both Zina Polisuk and then Diana Marta, both well-known regional artists and teachers.
Janet is a member of the Howard County Art Guild and has received numerous awards in juried local and regional art shows.
Janet’s donated piece, San Fernando Morning, is based on a sketch painting she created while recovering in Encino, CA, from complications from surgery. “It was a peaceful scene and helped me cope better with my illness. I hope it will do the same for someone else.” |
