Healing Art Works is pleased to announce Project 2008: American Cancer Society Hope Lodge ® (http://www.cancer.org/docroot/subsite/hopelodge/index.asp)

Healing Art Works is teaming with the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge program to place donated, original art in its two Pennsylvania locations, the new AstraZeneca Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society in the Philadelphia area, and the Hope Lodge of Central Pennsylvania in Hershey, PA.

Since 1970, Hope Lodges have been providing cancer patients and their families with a free, temporary place to stay while patients are undergoing treatments away from home. By removing the worry of where to stay and what it will cost, patients can focus on what is important: getting well.

In 2007, more than 18,000 patients, caregivers, and family members stayed at Hope Lodge locations nationwide, proving that Hope Lodges do indeed give hope a home. The environment is designed to feel like home with both private and public spaces for guests, allowing for quiet reflection as well as community interaction. The average length of stay is six to eight weeks.

Healing Art Works believes the value of original art will enhance the stays of patients and their families, by contributing to the homelike environment created at each facility.
