Michael Raucheisen

Michael is a singer/songwriter, musician and artist born in Baltimore, MD., in the late 60's. His grandfather, also Michael Raucheisen, was a German pianist responsible for discovering and supporting some of the greatest opera singers of the twentieth century including Marion Anderson and Elizabeth Schwarzkopf. Being the grandson of this famous accompanist, Michael was always surrounded by music and art while growing up. He has been writing music and sporadically painting since he can remember, and can be seen preforming under various pseudonyms. Recently his song “In Love With A Friend” was part of the latest Deep Dish album (George is On) that received two Grammy nominations in 2006. He began to express himself artistically at a very early age without formal training. His artistic influences such as Peter Max, James Rizzi, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Picasso, Monet and Van Gogh have all inspired his creativity. His art is simple and sincere, full of spirit and always from the heart. In November 2006, he began painting flowers partly to celebrate the ceremony of his recent marriage, and mostly to express his gratitude for the blessings of good friends and family. His art, like his music, is simplistic, a bit primitive and childlike, but full of spirit, color and passion, much like a simple melody and lyrics. Although there is not much training or technique to what he paints, his paintings are full of color, emotion and feeling which he hopes art lovers (like himself) can appreciate.
