Marie Elena Stotler – Malvern, PA
A native of Chester County, Marie has had a long-standing love affair with art. For a high school project, she designed a pair of shoes and matching handbag for Etienne Aigner, which the designer later produced and sold. Marie's design was submitted to the Moore School of Art in Philadelphia which awarded Marie a scholarship based on the sketch.
Marie studied watercolor with Anne Buffington who taught in the Brandywine tradition, and she later studied botanical illustration. Her paintings have been winning prizes in art shows since 1975, in both the US and Canada. Marie has also studied needlework and taught rug hooking for 20 years. For the past ten plus years, she has been involved in basketweaving and has been featured in Victoria Magazine, Country Gardens and Better Homes and Gardens magazines for her beeskep and colonial basket designs.
