David Watling
Dave painted his first barn for a birthday present for his wife and never stopped. After a tour of duty in Vietnam, he attended Metropolitan Jr. College of Kansas City and University of Colorado, Bolder to study Commercial Art and Advertising. Life has a way of changing one's plans. He became a jack-of-all trades and a master of some, working on various construction jobs. Though he did not work in the art field, his experiences taught him valuable skills used throughout his life. He completely remodeled the interior of his home, built a two car garage and landscaped his lawns. In the past two years he began actively working on his art, learning watercolor and getting back into acrylics. His first success in selling paintings was at The Kenosha Art Association's 31st Good Old Summertime Art Fair in Kenosha. Ever since he has been taking pictures of old barns and various landscapes to capture them on canvas.
