Ann Collins Adair – Owings Mill, MD
Ann Adair has been painting since she was 4 years old. When she grew up, she became a nurse and continuted to paint as frequently as she could. Inher mid-30s, a life-changing illness affected her speech for several years. For her therapy, she knew her brain needed stimulation and knew art would be her therapy.
She returned to school and obtained her BFA in drawing and painting from Boise State University. She has continued to paint with much of her focus on women and healing. She uses a lot of pattern in her work, but often moves out of pattern into realism. She primarily focuses on two-dimensional media; watercolor, oil, acrylic, pen, graphite, pastel, and printmaking.
Ann has exhibited in shows nationwide, including Women of Faith at the Mormon Temple Visitor Center in WAshington, DC; Indiana University All Women's Show; Northwestern ARtists Traveling Exhibition in AK, ID, M, OR, WA, and WY; and the ARtists in Series Invitational Show at the University of Louisville's Schneider Gallery. She was a merit winner at Kentucky WAtercolor Society show; a merit winner in abstract art at the 8th Annual Regional Show at the Art Gallery of Fells Point. She also received juror's awards at the Western Idaho State Fair and the Kentucky State Fair.
