Joan Hutchinson Spillman –

Joan Spillman began studying oil painting at the age of ten. After majoring in art at Chatham College, she continued her studies at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC.  A return to Pennsylvania sparked an interest in watercolors and her love of realism continued in her paintings of landscapes, animals, children, still life and historic buildings, with a focus on scenes from Chester County and Martha’s Vineyard. Residential homes and family pets became favorite subjects for commission work.  Joan has exhibited in numerous group shows and several individual shows. She has been represented in galleries in Philadelphia, Stone Harbor, NJ, and Martha’s Vineyard.
