Sally Alexander Wade – Tyler, Texas After receiving a degree in art education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Sally Wade taught art in a Bellefonte, Pennsylvania public school, after which she traveled in Europe and lived in Italy. She worked as an assistant to an art historian who cataloged works of art for the Italian government and she drew portraits two summers in St.Tropez on the French Riviera. For many years she supported herself as a professional portrait artist. Sally home educated her children and taught private drawing and painting lessons to both children and adults before taking a high school art teaching position at a private school in Tyler, Texas for four years. She conducts pastel portrait workshops by request as she has time open. Her main interests are drawing in graphite, oil painting, and creating sterling silver jewelry, which is her new art business venture. Artifacts that were found in the ashes of Pompeii inspire her jewelry designs. Sally's studio is in her home in rural East Texas near Tyler. |
